Salem's Butcher · Strip District

The halal butcher Pittsburgh trusts.

Locally sourced. Hand-cut. Hand-trimmed. Since 1981, Salem’s has done halal the hard way — in-house, every day, with butchers who know your name.

Quick answer: Salem’s Butcher is Pittsburgh’s in-house halal butcher at 2923 Penn Ave. (Strip District). All meat is locally sourced and raised, then hand-cut and hand-trimmed on-site — lamb, beef, chicken, goat, custom cuts and whole-animal orders. Call 412-235-7828 or order through the webstore.

Our standard

What “halal” means here.

Plenty of stores stock meat that arrives in a box with a sticker. That’s never been Salem’s. Our animals are sourced and raised locally, and every cut is broken down by our own butchers at the Penn Ave. counter — the same meat our grill cooks twenty feet away, the same meat we’ve fed our own families on for forty-five years.

  • Locally sourced & raised — we know the farms, not just the labels.
  • Hand-cut, hand-trimmed in-house — by butchers, not machines.
  • 100% halal, always — there is no “halal section.” The whole counter is.
