The Salem’s standard

Halal isn’t a label here. It’s the whole house.

In 1971, Massaud Salem came from Libya to Pittsburgh to study mathematics — and found a city where his community couldn’t buy truly fresh halal food. In 1981 he opened a butcher shop and fixed that himself.

Forty-five years later his son Abdullah runs the family business the same way: meat sourced and raised locally, hand-cut and hand-trimmed in our own shop, cooked over real charcoal, and priced so every family can eat well.
